CUET PG 2027: exam date, registration, fee, eligibility, syllabus, pattern and participating universities
NTA has proposed CUET PG 2027 for 17 days between 1 and 25 March 2027. Registration is not open yet. Fee, eligibility, papers, marking and how university admission works.

The Common University Entrance Test for postgraduate programmes, CUET (PG), is the single computer-based test that NTA runs for master's admissions at central universities and many state, government, deemed and private universities. NTA conducts it for the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC). This guide uses only NTA's own pages, read on 20 October 2026: the NTA Examination Calendar, the CUET (PG) website and the CUET (PG) 2026 Information Bulletin.
Key takeaways

CUET PG 2027 exam date
The NTA Examination Calendar, titled "December 2026 Cycle onwards" and published on nta.ac.in on 16 September 2026, lists CUET (PG) under March 2027:
- Exam days: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24 and 25 March 2027
- Buffer days: 30 and 31 March 2027
- Duration: 17 days
The calendar carries a clear note: "Dates are tentative and may undergo changes owing to administrative, academic, statutory, logistical or other unforeseen circumstances." So treat March 2027 as firm for planning but wait for your admit card for your own date. Your actual day depends on your paper. NTA gives the city and date for each candidate in the advance city slip and the admit card, both released close to the exam.
For comparison, CUET PG 2026 was also held across 17 days: 6 to 13, 16 to 19, 24, 25, 27, 29 and 30 March 2026, in 50 shifts, according to NTA's result notice of 24 April 2026. We covered the calendar announcement in our news story, CUET PG 2027 will run across 17 days in March.

CUET PG 2027 registration date and fee
As of 20 October 2026, NTA's public notices and the CUET (PG) site carry no CUET PG 2027 information bulletin and no registration date. The site still shows the 2026 bulletin. NTA has not said when the 2027 form will open, so any date you see elsewhere is a guess.
What the last cycle tells you: the CUET PG 2026 form was open from 14 December 2025 to 14 January 2026 (up to 11:50 pm), fee payment also closed on 14 January 2026, and the correction window ran from 18 to 20 January 2026. Applying is online only at exams.nta.nic.in/cuet-pg, in three steps: registration, the application form, and fee payment. Only one form is allowed per candidate.
CUET PG 2026 fee (the last official fee):
| Category | Up to two papers | Each extra paper |
|---|---|---|
| General | ₹1,400 | ₹700 |
| Gen-EWS / OBC-NCL | ₹1,200 | ₹600 |
| SC / ST / Third gender | ₹1,100 | ₹600 |
| PwD / PwBD | ₹1,000 | ₹600 |
| Centres outside India | ₹7,000 | ₹3,500 |
Bank or gateway charges and GST are extra. The 2027 fee will be in the 2027 bulletin; it may or may not stay the same.
CUET PG eligibility
From the 2026 Information Bulletin, chapter 3:
- You can sit the test if you have passed a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or you are in the final year of one. For 2027, that would mean students finishing their degree in 2027, once the 2027 bulletin confirms it.
- No age limit for the test itself. Universities may have their own age rules.
- No minimum percentage set by NTA. Marks, subject combinations, quotas and reservation follow each university's own policy.
The bulletin is blunt about this: sitting the test "does not entitle a candidate to be considered for admission" unless you meet the programme's eligibility at that university. So check the course page of each university before you choose your papers.
CUET PG syllabus and test papers
In 2026, NTA offered 157 question paper codes in six groups, and you could pick up to four:
- Common (22 codes): includes General (COQP11), General Management (COQP12), Commerce, Economics, LLM, M.Ed., Mass Communication and Journalism, B.Ed. papers and more
- Languages (41): English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Urdu, French, German and many more
- Science (30): Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Computer Science, Statistics, Pharmacy and others
- Humanities (26): History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work and others
- M.Tech and Higher Sciences (12): engineering and data science papers, in English only
- Acharya (26): Sanskrit and traditional knowledge subjects
The paper code you need depends on the course and university, not just your degree. NTA warns that "similar courses are being evaluated under various question paper codes by different universities," so match each code with the university's own course list. Paper-wise syllabi are on the CUET (PG) syllabus page, grouped as Science, M.Tech, Language, Humanities, Common and Acharya. NTA has not published a separate 2027 syllabus yet; until it does, the syllabus on that page is the one in force.
CUET PG exam pattern and marking scheme
The 2026 pattern, from chapter 2 of the bulletin:
| Item | CUET PG 2026 |
|---|---|
| Mode | Computer-based test (CBT) only |
| Questions | 75 multiple-choice questions per paper |
| Time | 90 minutes per paper |
| Marks | 4 per question, so 300 in all |
| Correct answer | +4 |
| Wrong answer | -1 |
| Not answered or marked for review | 0 |
| Medium | English and Hindi for most papers; M.Tech papers in English; language papers in that language |
If a question has more than one correct option, everyone who chose any correct option gets 4 marks. If a question is dropped, every candidate gets 4 marks. Papers held across several shifts are normalised, so your raw marks are converted to an NTA score.
Participating universities in CUET PG
NTA's result notice of 24 April 2026 says 198 universities took part in CUET PG 2026:
- 45 central universities
- 40 state government universities
- 24 government institutions
- 89 private and deemed universities
The central university list includes the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, the University of Hyderabad, Pondicherry University, Tezpur University, Visva Bharati and the Central University of Gujarat. For students in Gujarat, the 2026 lists on the participating universities page also name Gujarat Vidyapith, the Indian Institute of Teacher Education in Gandhinagar, Sir P. T. Sarvajanik College of Science in Surat, Ahmedabad University and ITM Vocational University in Vadodara.
The bulletin says "the list of participating universities is dynamic," so the 2027 list can change. Gujarat also had 13 exam cities in 2026: Ahmedabad, Anand, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Mehsana, Palanpur, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Valsad/Vapi.
How admission works after the CUET PG result
NTA's role stops at the scorecard. In 2026, NTA showed provisional answer keys and recorded responses from 11 to 14 April 2026 (₹200 per question challenged), and declared the result on 24 April 2026. Scorecards were also put on DigiLocker, so it helps to have your APAAR ID and DigiLocker ready.
After that, there is no central counselling. Each university announces its own admission schedule, takes applications on its own portal, makes its merit list from your CUET PG score plus its own rules, and verifies documents. The score is valid only for that academic year (2026-27 for the 2026 test). There is no re-evaluation.

Many students sit more than one PG test. If you are also looking at M.Tech through GATE 2027, an MBA through CAT or a teaching and research route through UGC NET, plan all your exam dates together. For fees at a university outside your home state, the PM Vidyalaxmi education loan scheme is worth a look.
