JEE Main 2027 session 1 is planned for 22 to 30 January 2027, per NTA's calendar.

This guide uses only NTA's own documents, read on 20 October 2026: the NTA examination calendar up to March 2027, the JEE Main website and the JEE Main 2026 Information Bulletin. Where a 2027 rule is not yet published, we give last year's official rule and say so.

Key takeaways

  • Session 1 (January 2027): 22 to 24 and 28 to 30 January 2027, buffer 31 January 2027, as per NTA's calendar. Six exam days.
  • Session 2 (April 2027): no date yet. NTA's calendar stops at March 2027.
  • Registration: not open on 20 October 2026. In 2025 the session 1 form went live on 31 October.

NTA's public notice of 16 September 2026 says the calendar "indicates the tentative schedule" and that its publication "does not constitute a notification for any particular examination". The bulletin, application window, city slip and admit card will each come separately. In short: plan around 22 January 2027, but treat the JEE Main website as the final word. We covered the calendar in our news story, JEE Main session 1 is 22 to 30 January 2027.

The same calendar puts the All India Sainik Schools entrance on 31 January 2027, the JEE buffer day.

JEE Main 2027 registration date, form and fee

On 20 October 2026, jeemain.nta.nic.in has no JEE Main 2027 notice, bulletin or form. Every item on its notice board is from the 2026 cycle. Last year, NTA put out a document advisory on 29 September 2025, an aspirants' advisory on 19 October 2025, and opened the session 1 form on 31 October 2025. That is a pattern, not a promise, so check the site yourself.

How the form worked in 2026, per the bulletin:

  1. Register and note the Application Number (used for both sessions).
  2. Fill the form: details, paper, up to four cities, qualifications, uploads.
  3. Pay online by net banking, card or UPI. Charges and GST are extra.
  4. Print the confirmation page, generated only after payment.

You can pay for session 2 later on the same application number. Filling more than one form is treated as unfair means.

JEE Main 2026 fee for each session (centres in India):

JEE Main 2027 required documents: Aadhaar, APAAR and category certificates

NTA has not issued a 2027 document advisory yet. Its 29 September 2025 notice for the 2026 exam told aspirants to update three things before applying:

  • Aadhaar card: correct name, date of birth as per the Class 10 certificate, latest photograph, address and father's name.
  • UDID card (for candidates with disabilities): valid, updated and renewed.
  • Category certificate (EWS, SC, ST or OBC-NCL): updated and valid.

NTA's 19 October 2025 advisory said it fetches your name, date of birth, gender, photograph and address from UIDAI through Aadhaar, and that the form offers an option if your Aadhaar name does not match your Class 10 marksheet.

The 2026 form had 12 steps. At the identity step you could choose Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Indian passport number, non-Indian passport number or PAN card. A separate step asked whether you have an APAAR ID and let you register it. If you have not made one yet, our APAAR ID guide shows how.

Upload specifications in 2026:

  • Photograph: recent, colour, passport size, 80% of the face visible including ears, no mask, white background, JPG/JPEG, 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Live photograph: taken through your webcam or phone while filling the form, against a light background.
  • Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10 kb to 100 kb.
  • Class 10 certificate or marksheet: PDF, 50 kb to 300 kb.
  • Identity proof (only if you do not verify through Aadhaar or DigiLocker): JPG/JPEG, 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Disability or UDID certificate: PDF, 50 kb to 300 kb.

Category certificates in the prescribed format are checked again at JoSAA or CSAB admission.

JEE Main 2027 eligibility and age limit

The 2027 eligibility rules are not published. Under the 2026 bulletin:

  • No age limit to sit the exam, though institutes may have their own.
  • Year of passing: Class 12 passed in 2024 or 2025, or appearing in 2026. Those who passed in 2023 or earlier could not sit. Your passing year is the first year you were declared pass.
  • Qualifying exams: Class 12 from any recognised board, NIOS with five subjects, a three-year AICTE or state diploma, and others listed in the bulletin.
  • For NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs (via JoSAA/CSAB): at least 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD), or a place in the top 20 percentile of your board. B.E./B.Tech programmes need Physics, Mathematics, a language, one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or a technical vocational subject, and one more subject.

JEE Main 2027 exam pattern and marking scheme

NTA has not announced any change for 2027. The 2026 Paper 1 pattern:

JEE Main 2027 exam centres and the Gujarat cities

You pick up to four cities, and only within the state of your present or permanent address. NTA may give you a different city for logistic reasons. The 2026 list for Gujarat had 15 cities: Ahmedabad, Anand, Bardoli, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Godhra, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Mehsana, Navsari, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Vapi. Abroad, the list included cities such as Dubai, Doha, Kathmandu, Singapore, Munich and Washington DC. The 2027 list will be in the new bulletin.

For Gujarat's own state engineering admissions, see GUJCET 2026 dates and merit list and which colleges topped Gujarat's 2026 ACPC choices.

JEE Advanced 2027

On 20 October 2026, jeeadv.ac.in still shows JEE Advanced 2026 and JoSAA 2026 notices; nothing about JEE Advanced 2027 is posted. Under the 2026 rules, you needed to be among the top 2,50,000 candidates (all categories) in JEE Main Paper 1 to register. Read our JEE Advanced 2026 report for how last year went. Students aiming for a B.Des at the IITs can also look at UCEED 2027, open until 31 October.
