Gujarat board students have a free official question bank for Classes 9 to 12
GSEB runs a subject-wise question bank portal for Standards 9 to 12 that costs nothing and is published by the board that sets the paper. Most students preparing for the Gujarat boards have never opened it.
Students preparing for the Gujarat board examinations spend real money on private question banks. The state board publishes one of its own, subject-wise, for Standards 9 to 12, on a dedicated portal, and it costs nothing.
Why the board's own bank is worth more than a market one
Because of who wrote it. A commercial question bank is a publisher's guess at what the board will ask. A question bank released by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board comes from the institution that sets the paper, marks it and defines the syllabus. When the two disagree about what a chapter is worth, the board is right by definition.
How to use it without wasting it
- Work by chapter, alongside teaching: do the bank's questions for a chapter in the week you finish it, not in a panic in February.
- Write full answers by hand. Board marks are awarded on a handwritten script under time pressure; solving mentally teaches you almost nothing about either.
- Standard 9 and 11 matter too. The portal covers them because the foundation for the board years is laid there, and a student who is shaky on Standard 9 mathematics does not get to be strong on Standard 10.
The board's other portals worth knowing
The same board site carries several student-facing services that families often do not realise are official: the e-service portal for examination forms and results, the school result record service, and the registration portals for the Gujarat State Open School examinations. All of them are reached from the board's own site, which is the point. If a portal asking for your examination details is not linked from gseb.org, treat it with suspicion.
