Forms can now be filled on sebexam.org until 30 October 2026, and the online fee can be paid until 31 October 2026. Every other condition in the Board's notification of 12 October stays the same.

Who can sit the exam
- Students in Class 8 this year at a government primary school, a local-body school or a grant-in-aid primary school. Private and self-financed schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and residential government schools are not covered.
- At least 55% in Class 7 for general and OBC students, and 50% for SC and ST students.
- Parents' annual income of ₹3,50,000 or less.
What it is worth
Students who make the merit list within their district and category quota get ₹1,000 a month (₹12,000 a year) from Class 9 to Class 12, paid by the Union Ministry of Education through the National Scholarship Portal. Gujarat's quota is 5,097 students.
Fee and the form
- Fee: ₹70 for general, EWS and OBC students, and ₹50 for SC, ST and students with disabilities, plus a service charge.
- The school fills in the form online, in English. The student's name must match the Aadhaar card exactly, and the school's U-DISE record must match too. The Board has said it will not correct details later.
What to do now: if your child is in Class 8 at a government or grant-in-aid school and has not been registered, speak to the head teacher before 30 October. Make sure the fee is paid by 31 October, because an unpaid form does not count. Our earlier report on the NMMS 2026-27 notification has the full exam pattern and document list.
