NEET PG counselling is open: register by noon on 21 October, and know what your ₹25,000 deposit is riding on
The Medical Counselling Committee has opened registration for round 1 of NEET PG 2026 counselling for all-India quota, deemed and central university seats. Registration closes at 12 noon on 21 October, choices lock by 10 am on 22 October and the result is due on 24 October. Disability assessment boards stay open until 15 and 18 October, and the seat matrix is still awaited.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services has started registration for NEET PG Counselling 2026. Round 1 covers the 50% all-India quota seats in government colleges and all seats in deemed universities, central universities and AFMS institutions. MCC says the seat matrix from NMC and NBEMS is still awaited, so the list of colleges you can choose from will appear once that arrives.
Round 1 dates
| Step | Date (server time) |
|---|---|
| Registration and payment | 12 October to 21 October, 12 noon (payment until 3 pm) |
| Choice filling | 13 October to 22 October, 10 am |
| Choice locking | 4 pm on 21 October to 10 am on 22 October |
| Seat allotment processing | 22–23 October |
| Round 1 result | 24 October |
| Reporting / joining | 26 October to 2 November |
MCC's combined schedule then runs round 2 from 6 November, round 3 from 26 November and a stray vacancy round from 16 December, with the last joining date for the stray round on 31 December. The academic session is set to begin on 20 November 2026.
What it costs to register
| Counselling | Registration fee (non-refundable) | Security deposit (refundable) |
|---|---|---|
| All-India quota — UR/EWS | ₹1,000 | ₹25,000 |
| All-India quota — SC/ST/OBC/PwD | ₹500 | ₹10,000 |
| Deemed universities (all categories) | ₹5,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
If you want both all-India quota and deemed seats, you pay only the higher deemed fee and deposit. Refunds go back only to the account you paid from, and only after all rounds are over.
When you lose the deposit
- Round 1 is forgiving. A round 1 allottee can take a free exit and still sit round 2, or join and opt to upgrade.
- From round 2 onward, not joining costs you. If you are allotted a seat in round 2, round 3 or the stray round and do not join, the deposit is forfeited.
- The deposit also goes if the admission is cancelled because something in your registration was wrong or you could not produce documents.
- A round 3 seat cannot be resigned. Fill round 3 choices only for seats you will actually take.
- You can submit only one registration. MCC says duplicate registrations lead to debarment.
Claiming the PwD quota? Your board deadline is this week
Candidates under the 5% disability quota need a certificate from one of MCC's designated medical assessment boards. Certificates from other hospitals are not accepted. MCC's latest update says the Primary Assessment Board is open until 15 October and the Appellate Board until 18 October, which is later than the dates in its 28 September notice.
What to do now
Register with the same mobile number and email you used for NEET PG, since OTPs go only there. Pay the fee before 3 pm on 21 October. Don't lock choices until the seat matrix is out and you have checked fees and bond terms on each college's own website, because MCC says it takes no responsibility for them. If you're relying on the PwD quota, get your board assessment done by 15 October.
