UPSC CDS (I) 2026 final result: 243 qualify for IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy courses
UPSC has declared the final result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026: 155 candidates for the Indian Military Academy, 63 for the Indian Naval Academy and 25 for the Air Force Academy, against 100, 26 and 32 vacancies. Medical results are not counted yet, and marks come out only after the OTA result.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026. Its press note dated 2 November 2026 lists 243 candidates in order of merit, selected on the written exam held in April 2026 and the interviews at the Services Selection Boards (SSB).

The numbers
| Academy and course | Qualified after written test | Vacancies | Finally qualified |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, 162nd (DE) course | 2,601 | 100 (13 for NCC 'C' Army Wing) | 155 |
| Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Executive Branch (General Service)/Hydro | 770 | 26 (6 for NCC 'C' Naval Wing, 1 for Hydro) | 63 |
| Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, No. 221 F(P) course | 640 | 32 (3 for NCC 'C' Air Wing) | 25 |
Some candidates appear on more than one list, so the 243 are not all different people. The lists are longer than the vacancies because a final seat also depends on medical fitness and verification.
What is still provisional
- Medical results have not been taken into account.
- Date of birth and educational qualifications are still being verified by Army Headquarters, so every candidature is provisional. Send your original certificates, with attested photocopies, to Army, Naval or Air Headquarters as per your first choice.
- Marks will be on the UPSC website only after the final result of the Officers' Training Academy (OTA) course for CDS (I) 2026.
If your address has changed, tell Army, Naval or Air Headquarters directly. For questions, UPSC's facilitation counter is open on working days from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and its helpdesk is on 011-24041001 and 011-40303444 from 9 am to 8 pm every day.
What to do now: if your roll number is on a list, send your certificates to the headquarters of your first choice without waiting. If it is not, the next written exam in the UPSC 2027 cycle is listed in our UPSC calendar 2027.
