UPSC CSE Mains 2026 result: 2,526 candidates called for the interview, update your DAF between 11 and 25 November
UPSC has declared the written result of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026, held from 21 to 30 August. 2,526 candidates qualify for the personality test at Dholpur House, New Delhi, out of 13,343 who cleared the prelim, for about 933 vacancies. Every qualified candidate must log in and submit the detailed application on upsconline.nic.in between 11 November and 6 pm on 25 November 2026, or no e-summon letter will be issued.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the written result of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026 on 5 November 2026. The roll number list has 2,526 candidates who now move to the personality test (interview) for the IAS, IFS, IPS and other Group A and Group B central services.

The numbers this year
| Stage | Candidates |
|---|---|
| Cleared the prelim of 24 May 2026 (result of 15 June) | 13,343 |
| Cleared the mains, held 21 to 30 August 2026 | 2,526 |
| Approximate vacancies in the 2026 notification | 933, including 33 for persons with benchmark disability |
That works out to a little under three interview candidates for every vacancy. UPSC says the final number of vacancies may still change once the cadre controlling authorities confirm them.
What you must do between 11 and 25 November
Being on the list is not enough to get a call letter. Every qualified candidate has to log in on upsconline.nic.in and submit the detailed application from 11 November to 6 pm on 25 November 2026. UPSC lists what to fill or update:
- If you wrote the prelim as "appearing" in your degree exam, you must now enter your result and upload proof of passing. Skip this and your candidature is cancelled.
- Address, higher qualifications, achievements, job and service details, any service already allotted in an earlier CSE, marital status, parents' details, attempts, the OBC or EWS annexure, service and cadre preferences, and consent for the Pratibha Setu portal, wherever they apply.
- If you have nothing to change, you still have to log in, check the details and submit. Otherwise no e-summon letter is issued.
After a successful submission you get a unique reference number by email and SMS. Keep it.
The interview itself
- Dates have not been announced. Interviews are held at UPSC, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi, and e-summon letters will be on upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. No paper letters are sent.
- Requests to change your interview date or time are ordinarily not accepted.
- Bring original certificates for age, education, community, EWS, disability and the TA form. Reservation certificates must have been issued by 27 February 2026, the closing date of the prelim application.
- The DoPT attestation form opens on cseplus.dopt.gov.in from the first interview day and stays open until the last.
- Changed your address or phone? Tell UPSC at [email protected] within 7 days of the result. No other changes to the form are allowed.
Marks of all candidates come out within 15 days of the final result, after the interviews, and stay online for 30 days.
What to do now: search the PDF for your roll number, then set a reminder for 11 November. Gather your degree certificate, category certificate dated on or before 27 February 2026 and service records before the window opens, so the form takes one sitting.
