GPSC prelim results: 295 cleared for Research Officer and 50 for Assistant Director (Boilers), while one GMB recruitment ends with no one qualified

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has published preliminary test results for two Class 2 recruitments and closed a third. All three notices are on its results page, dated 2 and 3 November 2026.

For both posts the general studies paper was the common one GPSC held on 9 August 2026 for 34 advertisements. GPSC repeats that these lists are not merit lists. They are the "zone of consideration": the candidates whose applications and certificates it will now check. Final selection is 50% prelim marks and 50% interview marks.

How the marks were counted

• General studies: 4 questions were cancelled, so each correct answer carries 1.042 marks and each wrong answer costs 0.313, under GPSC's pro-rata rule.
• Research Officer subject paper: 5 questions were cancelled, so 1.026 marks per correct answer and 0.308 deducted per wrong one.
• Boilers subject paper: 1.000 mark per correct answer and 0.300 deducted per wrong one.

The final answer key for the Boilers subject paper went up on 2 November, so you can check your score against it.

Upload, but only when GPSC says so

Candidates on these lists must upload their confirmed online application and every document that applies to them on gpsc-iass.gujarat.gov.in. GPSC says it will put up the upload dates and instructions on that portal later. Applications by hand or post are not accepted, and a candidate who uses any route other than the portal becomes ineligible for scrutiny automatically. The Research Officer notice lists 25 kinds of documents, starting with the SSC certificate as proof of date of birth (a school leaving certificate is not accepted).

Gujarat Maritime Board: a recruitment that found no one

In a notice dated 2 November, GPSC closed its recruitment for Graduate Engineer Trainee, Class 2, at Gujarat Maritime Board (advertisement 32/2026-27), a special drive for divyang candidates. The general studies paper was on 10 May 2026 and the subject paper on 3 October 2026. No candidate reached the minimum marks fixed by GPSC's order of 4 July 2025, so nobody qualified for application scrutiny and the process has been declared complete.

What to do now: search the list PDF for your seat number, and start collecting the certificates that apply to you, especially SEBC or EWS certificates, which GPSC usually wants issued inside fixed dates.
