GUJCET 2027: exam date status, form and fee, pattern, syllabus and how ACPC merit is calculated
GSEB has not announced GUJCET 2027 as of 28 October 2026. The GUJCET 2026 timeline, eligibility, pattern, Gujarati medium, registration steps, and the 50:50 ACPC merit rule for engineering and pharmacy with a worked example.

GUJCET, the Gujarat Common Entrance Test, is run by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB). The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) uses the score to rank Std 12 Science students for engineering and pharmacy seats. This guide uses the board's press notes and ACPC's 2026-27 documents, read on 28 October 2026. Anything not yet out for 2027 is marked as a 2026 figure.
Key takeaways
- GUJCET 2027 status: not announced as of 28 October 2026. In the last cycle the date note came in early November and the form in mid-December.
- Pattern (2026): Physics and Chemistry together, 80 questions, 80 marks, 120 minutes. Biology and Maths are separate papers, 40 questions, 40 marks, 60 minutes each. All multiple choice on an OMR sheet.
- Fee (2026): ₹350, later ₹1,350 with the ₹1,000 late fee.
- Merit: 50% board theory percentile and 50% GUJCET percentile, for 95% of seats in government and grant-in-aid colleges and 50% of seats in self-financed colleges.
Has GUJCET 2027 been announced?
No. On 28 October 2026 the newest notices on the board's website covered the board by-election, school registration and open school exams. None was about GUJCET 2027. The GSEB portal links gujcet.gseb.org, which returned an error page on 28 October 2026 and goes live when registration opens.
So the dates below are the GUJCET 2026 dates. Use them to judge when the 2027 notes are likely, not as 2027 dates.

GUJCET 2025 was on Sunday, 23 March 2025 (2025 date note). Both years it fell on a late-March Sunday after the board exams, which the GSEB 2026-27 calendar puts from 25 February to 17 March 2027.
Who can take GUJCET: groups and eligibility
GUJCET is for Std 12 Science students of Group A, Group B and Group AB seeking degree engineering or degree or diploma pharmacy. It has been compulsory for these courses since 2017.
- Group A (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) takes the Physics-Chemistry paper and the Maths paper.
- Group B (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) takes the Physics-Chemistry paper and the Biology paper.
- Group AB takes all three papers. In 2026 only 382 students registered as Group AB.
Students of other boards can register too, using their board code (GSEB is 01).
For ACPC admission you also need the Std 12 marks the rules ask for. The 2026-27 BE/BTech advertisement asks for at least 45% (40% for reserved categories) in the subjects AICTE prescribes. The pharmacy advertisement asks for Std 12 Science, Group A or B, with Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology and English as the Pharmacy Council of India notifies.
Biology students and engineering. Group B students can get into engineering branches that accept Biology. The 7 July 2021 resolution listed 15 such branches, including Biomedical, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Textile, Agricultural Engineering and Bioinformatics. A 7 June 2022 amendment ties the minimum qualification for each course to the AICTE Approval Process Handbook. Check ACPC's list for your year.
GUJCET exam pattern
From the board's GUJCET 2026 date note:
| Paper | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics + Chemistry (one paper) | 40 + 40 | 80 | 120 minutes |
| Biology | 40 | 40 | 60 minutes |
| Mathematics | 40 | 40 | 60 minutes |

All questions are multiple choice. Physics and Chemistry share one OMR sheet with 80 answers; Biology and Maths each have their own sheet of 40. On 29 March 2026 the hall-ticket schedule ran Physics-Chemistry from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, Biology from 1:40 pm to 2:40 pm and Maths from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Entry closed when each paper began.
Medium. Papers are set in Gujarati, English and Hindi. You choose one in the form and get all papers in that medium. Gujarati-medium students can write GUJCET in Gujarati.
Negative marking. The board's GUJCET 2026 notes we read give questions, marks and time but say nothing about negative marking. Check the GUJCET 2027 information booklet when it is out.
Syllabus. GUJCET follows the board's current NCERT-based Std 12 syllabus in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths; GSEB schools have used NCERT textbooks since June 2019.
How to register for GUJCET (2026 steps)
The 2026 form instructions, Appendix 2 of the information booklet (archived copy of the board's PDF), set out four stages:
- Register on gseb.org or gujcet.gseb.org with your name as in your Std 12 exam form, gender, a 10-digit mobile number, an email ID and an 8-character password. A 5-digit OTP comes to your mobile. One mobile number and one email ID allow only one registration.
- Log in with your mobile number and password.
- Pay ₹350 through SBI ePay by card or net banking, or print the "SBI Branch Payment" slip and pay at any SBI branch. The form opens only after a successful payment.
- Fill the form: date of birth, category, disability if any, full address with PIN code, board code, school index number (GSEB schools now use the 00.0000 format), group A, B or AB, and medium. Upload a passport-size photo and your signature, each a JPG of up to 50 KB.
After you submit, neither the form nor the exam centre can be changed. GSEB students get a centre from their school index number. The helpline printed on the portal in the 2026 cycle was 1800-233-5500, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Hall ticket. In 2026 hall tickets were online only, from 17 March 2026 at noon, on gujcet.gsebht.in, gsebht.in and gseb.org, using your mobile number or email ID with date of birth or application number. Carry one photo ID: Aadhaar card, driving licence or your original Std 12 hall ticket.
Answer key objections. In 2026 objections went by email to [email protected] until 8 April, 6:00 pm, with a ₹500 fee per question, refunded if the objection was upheld. The final key on 10 April changed one Chemistry answer.
Concessions for disabled candidates are in the board's circular.
How ACPC builds your merit
The 2026-27 BE/BTech advertisement and pharmacy advertisement use the same rule. For 95% of seats in government and grant-in-aid colleges and 50% of seats in self-financed colleges, merit marks are:
- 50% of your Std 12 theory percentile, issued by your board, in Maths, Physics and Chemistry (Biology for eligible branches), plus
- 50% of your GUJCET percentile in the matching subjects.
This is the 50:50 rule from the 7 July 2021 resolution. A percentile is not a mark. It tells you where you stand among the students who took the exam. GSEB's 2026 result booklet says a Group A student with a Science theory percentile of 99 or more was in the top 543 of that group.
Worked example (illustrative numbers). A Group A student has a board theory percentile of 86.40 in PCM and a GUJCET percentile of 78.20 in PCM.
- Board half: 86.40 × 0.5 = 43.20
- GUJCET half: 78.20 × 0.5 = 39.10
- Merit marks: 43.20 + 39.10 = 82.30
ACPC ranks candidates by these marks; ties go to Std 12 subject marks, as the ACPC engineering guide explains. A weak GUJCET cannot be fully made up by a strong board result, or the other way round.

GUJCET or JEE Main: which do you need?
From the 2026-27 ACPC advertisements:
| Seat type | What counts |
|---|---|
| 95% of government and grant-in-aid seats, 50% of self-financed seats | Board theory percentile + GUJCET percentile. You must have studied at a school in Gujarat and taken GUJCET that year. |
| 5% of government and grant-in-aid engineering seats | JEE Main All India Rank. Open to students of any recognised board in India. |
| 5% of government and grant-in-aid pharmacy seats | NEET or JEE Main All India Rank |
| Management seats in self-financed colleges | JEE Main rank or GUJCET merit, as the institute announces (2021 resolution) |
| NRI, OCI, foreign national and CIWGC seats in government colleges | Merit of the qualifying exam. These are extra seats with a USD 5,000 a year fee (2026-27 notice). |
For a Gujarat student who wants a state engineering or pharmacy seat, GUJCET is the test that matters. JEE Main adds the small all-India quota. See our JEE Main 2027 and NEET UG 2027 guides.
ACPC registration and documents
ACPC registration is separate. In 2026-27 it ran from 30 March to 31 May 2026 for BE/BTech and 6 April to 15 June 2026 for pharmacy, ₹350 each, online on gujacpc.admissions.nic.in, even before results. ACPC's 2026 document guide lists what to keep ready:
- Std 12 marksheet details (name, seat number, board and marks must match)
- GUJCET or JEE Main details (application number, roll number)
- Category certificate, if claiming reservation
- Income, non-creamy layer or EWS certificate, for TFWS, EWS or SEBC benefits
- Disability certificate, if any
Pharmacy's 2026 key dates show a provisional GUJCET-based merit list on 22 June 2026 and Round 1 allotment on 2 July 2026.
