Karnataka has allotted 8,772 MBBS and 2,466 BDS seats in round 2. Candidates who want out can cancel between 4 pm on 17 September and 5 pm on 20 September. After that the penalty ladder gets very expensive, ending at a year’s fee and a three-year ban.
Students in seven West Asian countries who missed the main Class 12 exams or were assessed under the alternative scheme get a fresh attempt in 40 subjects. Schools submit the list of candidates between 22 and 26 September, and CBSE is charging no extra exam fee.
The counselling calendar circulated with Gujarat’s admission notice fixes the rest of the season: all-India round 3 runs 22 to 30 September, Gujarat’s state round 3 from 28 September to 9 October, the stray rounds through mid-October, and the last date to join any MBBS seat is 26 October.
The Ministry of Education has extended the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship deadline for 2026-27 to 30 September. On the portal itself, student applications close 31 October, institute verification 15 November and second-level verification 30 November. Nothing moves without an OTR number.

A school in Bhuyangdev could not produce camera footage from the time a student’s hand was cut badly enough to need stitches. The district education officer imposed a ₹10,000 penalty payable in two days, and ordered the management to prove its cameras work and its recordings are kept.
A first-year chemistry research scholar resigned a day after complaining about her treatment. The Punjab and Haryana High Court held the resignation was not voluntary and told the institute to help her resume; the institute’s appeal was withdrawn on 10 September, leaving that order standing.
A special admission round runs only for St Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad. Registration and preference editing are open from 16 to 20 September, offers are issued 21 to 22 September, confirmation is 23 to 24 September, and a second round starts 25 September.
DU has extended registration to 16 September for FYUP graduates of 2026 who want to go straight into a PhD without a master’s degree. You need 7.5 CGPA (7.0 for SC/ST), and applications go through pgportal.uod.ac.in.
All regular and vacant-seat rounds are over, but seats remain. The GCAS portal has been open for a college-level mop-up round since 7 September, and nine universities issued their circulars on 11 September. Each college sets its own last date.
The third round of all-India counselling covers 15% AIQ seats plus 100% of seats at deemed and central universities, AFMC, AIIMS and JIPMER. Choice locking shuts at noon on 28 September and reporting runs 1 to 9 October.

NBEMS will release the NEET PG 2026 answer key along with each candidate’s recorded responses at natboard.edu.in, the first time it has done so. It follows a Supreme Court order on transparency; over 2.65 lakh candidates sat the exam on 30 August.
The National Testing Agency has published results and score cards for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET held on 17 and 18 July at csirnet.nta.nic.in. Qualifying marks are 33% for General, EWS and OBC, and 25% for SC, ST and PwD.
CBSE has fixed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test for 12 and 13 December 2026. Both papers are pen-and-paper tests on an OMR sheet, 150 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. City slips come 15 days before, admit cards two days before.
The state has told districts to verify, condemn and pull down 2,814 unsafe government school structures by the end of September, shifting students to nearby safe buildings. Audits also found 647 schools with seasonal waterlogging and 53 with permanent waterlogging.
FMG interns say they do the same hospital work as their Indian-trained peers without the same stipend. They will gather at the Directorate of Medical Education in Jaipur at 9 am on 16 September, backed by a national resident doctors’ federation.
ACPUGMEC has pushed the second-round choice filling deadline to 10 am on 14 September, added 50 MBBS seats at Ananya College, and ruled that from round 2 only original documents are accepted: no DigiLocker, no photocopies. Classes begin 15 September.
The application window for the Joint Admission Test for Masters is live at jam.iitkgp.ac.in. The exam is on 14 February 2027 across seven papers, fees start at ₹1,000, and you may attempt two papers only if they fall in different sessions.
The revised seat matrix for 2026-27 puts the country at 1,40,214 MBBS seats across 836 colleges, with 38 new medical colleges this year. Private colleges absorbed 10,400 of the new seats against 2,786 in government ones.

The minimum land-area requirement for recognition has been scrapped and replaced with self-certification. Educators warn it could legalise schools running out of rooms and balconies, the opposite of the direction Gujarat moved in this week.
